The 14^th day of July 2017 was a usual but special Friday in China. Clock was pointing at 22:30, the night went deep and dusk has already faded for a couple of hours. But the heat never seems to be diminished.

Those endeavored ones were still studying at the desk. Iatrology never allowed a tiny little sloppiness. Serving patients requires atomic efforts by medical staff.

Suddenly, a message broke the silence. “JIHUA Orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital (Referred to as JIHUA hereafter) gained three-year CARF accreditation! This is not only a reward for those who have fought for more than a year but also a surprise to those people that struggled so much from self-learning!”

JIHUA has become both the first private tier-two rehabilitation hospital that gained CARF accreditation and the first private hospital that Okeway successfully assisted. Congratulations! 

At that moment, both JIHUA and Okeway were sharing happiness together and social medias were seethed with excitement. God knows how many people couldn’t go to sleep because of it. 

However, questions from outside were never settled from the beginning of the trail: Why did a private rehabilitation hospital that just got started choose CARF? Okeway do have successfully assisted several public hospitals passing the accreditation, but can they handle a private hospital?

Before answering this question, let us first review JIHUA’s accreditation process.

In December 2015, Jiang Meng, the Dean of JIHUA Orthopedic Rehabilitation heard about the concept of CARF accreditation for the first time on a rehab quality control conference. He was affected and touched by a report called “CARF and Patient-centered Philosophy”. After hearing a presentation about “Quality Management of Rehabilitation” by Bisjumy Xu COO from Okeway, Dean Jiang directly revealed his thoughts about forging JIHUA Orthopedic Rehabilitation with CARF standards. He expressed that his team needs help from Okeway to move closer to international standards and the cooperation chimed in easily.

Operation data is one of the most important things for every single hospital, having a 100% occupancy rate can be said as a dream shared by every Deans. But of course, numbers are only the result, the real value stands behind the numbers. Through developments over a year, by optimizing management system and reconstructing rehabilitation service process, doctors, therapists and nurses in JIHUA improved their way of taking care of a patient, they learned the value behind teamwork. Patients in JIHUA experienced respect and participation that hardly exist in the rest of Chinese hospitals. Most importantly, they got a result from rehabilitation that can be proved by data from evaluations!

If it is true, of course it will be bustling.

 

Tier-two rehabilitation hospitals are the main part of rehabilitation organizations in China. Tons of new-built, reformed or deposited tier-two rehabilitation organizations are experiencing rapid transformations, social capital, is no doubt one of the biggest reasons to that. But while everybody else is seeking for a positive public reputation, industry status or government relations, the success from JIHUA obviously opened a big window to luminosity for all.
