Established in 1953, Chongqing Yuxi Hospital is a grade-II comprehensive hospital coring at medical treatment and integrating prevention, healthcare and teaching, and developing rehabilitation medicine and geriatric medicine as its special disciplines. It covers an area of 13mu, business buildings of 13,000㎡  and has 354 sick beds. In 2000, it set up rehabilitation zone and a treatment room of 35㎡, established adult rehabilitation department in 2006 and successively set up children’s rehabilitation outpatient in 2009 and children’s rehabilitation zone in 2015, expanded the treatment area to 1,250㎡ in 2016, and established the rehabilitation engineering center in 2017. Having the most comprehensive rehabilitation discipline in Chongqing, the hospital ranks among the top in the city.

Traditional management mode, outdated infrastructure and weak rehabilitation concepts hinder the hospital from further development. Based on cooperation between OKEWAY and President Zhou Xinjian, the two parties formulated “three-step” improvement strategy and set up customized schemes to deal with difficulties including “function zone reconstruction within limited space”, “personnel structure optimization” and “environment construction before concept establishment” for preparing for CARF accreditation.

With strategic assistance from OKEWAY, the hospital obtained three-year CARF accreditation for its comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program – hospital (adult) and inpatient rehabilitation program – hospital (children and teenager) on January 31, 2018, and became the first in southwest China and the 9^th organization in Mainland China passing CARF accreditation.
